ERIC CANTONA JOINS THE NEW YORK COSMOS AS DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has joined the New York Cosmos as their new director of football. The New York Cosmos were relaunched in August of 2010 by former Tottenham vice-charman Paul Kemsley and have continued to add big names to their management team, including Pelé as honorary president, Terry Byrne, Rick Parry, and another former Cosmos legend Giorgio Chinaglia. Although the Cosmos have neither a team or stadium, their intent on joining Major League Soccer as the 20th club is clear. The MLS Commissioner Don Garber even acknowledged the possibility just last week during the MLS SuperDraft in Baltimore. The only question is who will they bring on board next? David Beckham, who has one year left on his contract with MLS' LA Galaxy, and Thierry Henry, who lives in NYC and plays for MLS side NYRB, are the most logical names as they are both familiar with MLS and living in the States.
